Joy Lawson is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is married and has two children. She came to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital at Drake ready and eager for rehabilitation. Joy slipped and fell and suffered a right posterior knee dislocation with a popliteal transaction. She then underwent artery repair, end to end anastomosis, and 4- compartment fasciotomies. She soon thereafter developed acute limb ischemia. Due to complications from her first surgery, Joy then underwent a right above-the-knee amputation secondary to acute right limb ischemia. She was able to increase her level of mobility and independence through occupational and physical therapy while at HealthSouth. Joy is an inspirational individual and was able reach her goals during her stay at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital at Drake.
